MandarinX is an organization dedicated to providing a premium Chinese language learning experience online through a partnership with edX - a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) provider founded by Harvard and MIT. As of March 2019, MandarinX has experienced high demand with an enrollment of more than 290,000 learners across five in-house designed and developed MOOC courses - Basic Mandarin Series: Level One, Two and Three; Business Chinese Series: Mandarin Chinese for Business; plus a fundamental course: First Steps in Chinese. The MandarinX mission is to do the following:

(1) Provide an active online language learning environment that is conducive to language acquisition through strong learn-learner and learn-instructor interactions.

(2) Bridge the gap between cultures by introducing different facets of Chinese life correlating with corresponding materials.

With globalization comes the need for increased communication. MandarinX strives to help bridge the gap between cultures by facilitating the communication process. An increased demand means a growing number of opportunities for dedicated individuals willing to devote their time to learning this complex language with a rich history and deep cultural roots.

Since Spring 2017, MandarinX has been offering online teaching practicum opportunities to graduate students from The Graduate Institute of Teaching Chinese as a Second/ Foreign Language, National Kaohsiung Normal University (NKNU). The goal of this program is to help students draw on learned theories and principles of second language acquisition, teaching methodology, and course design, and apply such theories to practice teaching online.
